You can scan in 2 ways: using your Phone's Built-in Camera or connecting a professional Bluetooth Scanner.
Option 1: Using the Built-in Camera
Best for: Light use, stock checks, and checking product details on the fly.
How to Scan:
Open the EasyScan app on your phone.
Tap on any input field (e.g., "Scan Barcode" on the Search page).
Tap the small Barcode Icon located inside or next to the text box.
Your camera will open. Point it at the barcode.
Tip: Hold the phone about 4–6 inches away. Ensure there is decent lighting.
Beep! The code is captured, and the camera closes automatically
Pros & Cons:
✅ Free: No extra hardware needed.
✅ Visual: You can see exactly what you are aiming at.
❌ Slower: You have to look at the screen to aim.
❌ Battery Drain: Using the camera constantly drains phone battery faster.
Option 2: Using a Bluetooth Scanner (HID Mode)
Best for: High-volume packing, stock takes, and speed.
Setup Instructions:
Pair the Scanner:
Go to your phone's Settings > Bluetooth.
Turn on your scanner and hold the pairing button.
Select the scanner from the list to pair it.
Set "Keyboard Mode" (HID):
Most scanners work as an "External Keyboard." This means when you scan, it types the numbers into your phone.

Scanning in EasyScan:
Tap the text box in the app so the cursor is blinking.
Crucial Step: If your on-screen keyboard pops up and covers half the screen, you can usually hide it (tap the "Keyboard Down" icon).
Point and shoot with the physical scanner trigger.
Pros & Cons:
✅ Fast: Scan 10x faster than using the camera.
✅ Ergonomic: Better for your wrist during long shifts.
❌ Cost: Requires purchasing hardware ($50–$250).
Mobile App Settings
To optimise your experience, check the Settings tab inside the mobile app:
Vibration/Sound Feedback: Turn this ON. It’s loud in a warehouse, so feeling a vibration on a "Success" scan is helpful.
Prevent Sleep: Keeps your phone screen on while the app is open (saves you from unlocking your phone constantly).
Troubleshooting
"The scanner is connected, but nothing happens."
Make sure you tapped the text box. The cursor must be blinking inside the field for the scanner to "type" the data.
"The on-screen keyboard keeps popping up."
This is normal behavior for iOS/Android when a text field is focused.
We do have settings to hide the keyboard on mobile in some views.
