Getting started with transfer orders

Last updated on 17 Sept, 2026

Transfer Orders in EasyScan allow you to move stock between your locations with accuracy and control. They provide a clear, trackable workflow so that every item is scanned, packed and received correctly. This helps you keep your multi-location inventory up to date and ensures that stock is always recorded in the right place.

When to use Transfer Orders

Transfer Orders are ideal for any situation where you need to move products from one location to another. Common examples include:

  • Rebalancing stock between busy and quiet stores

  • Moving items from a warehouse to a retail shop

  • Preparing stock for a pop-up or temporary event

  • Returning surplus goods to a central location

  • Correcting distribution issues across locations

If you operate more than one location, Transfer Orders help ensure your stock stays accurate and traceable as it moves through your business.

How Transfer Orders work

Availability: Transfer orders require Advanced or Pro and two different Shopify locations.

A transfer follows Draft → Requested → Packed → In transit → Received, with partial/error states where needed. Creating or requesting a transfer does not move stock. Confirming packed units deducts those units at the origin; receiving accepted units adds them at the destination. Declined units are not shipped, and rejected units are not accepted into destination stock.

Use this workflow when different people or locations pack and receive at different times. For an immediate movement with no separate receive stage, use Quick transfer.

The transfer details include an activity timeline and attachments. You can also search the transfer list by SKU/barcode and use location filters to find the right transfer.
